CANVAS SYSTEMS
Proper maintenance is the key to the longevity of the canvas system.

WINDOW MATERIAL
Cleaning:  Mild soap and water with soft cloth.  Avoid chemicals.

SEA-FLEX CLEAR VINYL ™

  • Polishing:  Clear vinyl is a porous material, which will need wax, or a light polish (Pledge or Meguiars) to replenish elements lost to the environment, cleaning, or ultra-violet rays.

  • Storage:  Flat is highly recommended.  Avoid folding or rolling which causes creasing.  Condensation may wick into vinyl left folded during temperature changes.

STRATAGLASS™

Use only Imar ™  soap concentrate.  Imar ™,  protective cleaner and Imar protective polish.

MAKROLON AR POLYCARBONATE™

Use mild soap as Palmolive or Joy and warm water with a soft chamois for cleaning.  Use mineral spirits or Isopropyl Alcohol for stubborn spots.  Novus 1 and Novus should be used for cleaning and polishing.

SUNBRELLA® CHAFE ABRASION:

Acrylic fabric is an abrasive material.  Raise the boom to avoid any contact between sail and or sail cover with dodger and bimini at all times.  Biminis that are folded against the backstay should be reinforced on acrylic.

SUNBRELLA® is made from 100% solution dyed acrylic fiber which gives it color brightness which is unsurpassed. Being a woven fabric it breathes, and is translucent. It is guaranteed for a period of five (5) years against loss of color or strength from normal exposure conditions including sunlight, mildew, rot, and atmospheric chemicals. SUNBRELLA® has  fluorocarbon finish which provides excellent water repellency & stain release.

YKK™ ZIPPERS AND SLIDERS:

Remove salt with soap and fresh water and lubricate with silicone or Teflon, which do not leave a  residue.

VINYL FABRICS:

Clean with soap and water, avoiding chemicals.  Use a vinyl replenisher after cleaning.

TENARA ™ GORE-TEX THREAD:

Use soap and water, avoid chemicals.

STAINLESS STEEL:

It's a mistake to think the shiny stuff is impervious to the elements.  Oxidation is insidious.  Remove salt with fresh water and coat the stainless with a metal polish.
